Welcome to the Scott County Visitors Commission’s new blog. The task for our commission and for the purpose of our new blog is to engage and share activities which stimulates interest and help motivate visitors to Scott County for day trips and long-weekend. Additionally, we hope to find unique ways to involve business travelers to unique and distinctive destinations while staying in Scott County.

Our blogs primary focus will be to highlight area festivals, events and historical sites; share stories, myths and folklore of Scott County under our counties four pillars of tourism:
- Authentic Tourism – sharing and attracting visitors who like to see thing just the way they are… Providing a true representation and understanding of the local lifestyles, customs, culture and delicious food.
- Agri-Tourism – sharing the links of agricultural production and/or processing that appeal to visitors interested in farming, raising livestock, or other agricultural business for the purposes of entertaining and/or education.
- Heritage Tourism – is getting visitors onto the backroads looking for historic churches, barn quilts and historical markers. Offering visitors, the experience the unique or historical places, artifacts and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of our past.
- Geo-Tourism – is introducing the environmental beauties and resources that can be enjoyed from camping, hiking, canoeing and kayaking, to birdwatching and more.
Additionally, you will enjoy our “Stay Here…Go There” segment on various area festivals, big regional events and cool destinations all within a short drive of Scottsburg and Austin, Indiana. Our small market sits just thirty miles north of Louisville and only 80 miles south of Indianapolis, right on Interstate I-65 and by selecting a hotel here (exit 29) you can save your money that you can reinvest and so you and your family can enjoy more within your vacation travels, instead of unnecessarily paying too much for hotels in those larger metro areas.
